To Excellence and Beyond

Family Support

Here at Muschamp Primary we are pleased to offer our Family Support and ELSA service. To provide families and individual children with any emotional and practical support they might need.

We are here for every family in our school community.

Meet the Team...

Miss Nicol dedicates much of her time supporting children and families who may need help with specialist support, links with health professionals and inclusive services for those with even the most complex and challenging needs. We're here with the support families need right from the start.

Here are just a few of the things:

• Attendance issues

• Classroom issues

• Behaviour support

• Change in family circumstances — bereavement, parent separation etc.

• Friendship issues

• Family learning

• Health concerns

• Homework concerns

• Signposting to other agencies — School Nurse, CAMHS etc.

• SATs concerns

 • Transfer to High School

Miss Bennett spends time working with children identified as needing emotional and mental health support for many different reasons.

She supports them to cope with changes and challenges in life and to be happy, settled and successful in school.

Both Ms. Nicol and Miss Bennett work alongside ELSA trained Teaching Assistants who support children in each year group every day.

ELSA

Emotional Literacy Support Assistants

Our Emotional Literacy Support Assistants (ELSA) are trained to support children in helping them to understand and cope with their feelings.

In particular our ELSA can help children with:

  • Recognising their Emotions
  • Emotional Wellbeing
  • Social Skills
  • Friendship skills
  • Anger Management
  • Loss and bereavement

Children will be seen in small groups or individually and activities will be tailored to that group or child. Sessions are fun and might include role play, puppets, board games, art and stories.
