Our learning in English is integral to our whole curriculum and the future of our Muschampions as learners and as members of the community. 

We value reading as a vital life skill and inspire a love of literacy so that pupils fall in love with reading for life.  Reading underpins children’s access to the curriculum and it clearly impacts on their overall achievement.  There is considerable research to show that children who enjoy reading and choose to read benefit not only academically, but also socially and emotionally.  Reading increases children’s vocabulary through encounters with words they would rarely hear or use in everyday speech.  Furthermore, children who read widely and frequently have more secure general knowledge.

• To read regularly to develop decoding skills, prosody and comprehension
• To foster a life-long love of reading
