Diversity at Muschamp

We are proud to be a diverse school that shows respect and tolerance to everyone. Our work has been recognised and rewarded through achieving the Stonewall School Champion Bronze Award.

Stonewall's comments about Muschamp Primary School:

"Your application and supporting evidence surpassed the required standards and we are pleased to certify your commitment to eradicating homophobia and championing diversity. We were particularly impressed with the depth and quality of your work to demonstrate why homophobia is unacceptable to your students, through lessons and behaviour ladders for example. This, the high-profile displays around school and the staff training session you’ve carried out are especially commendable.

We hope you continue to develop your work in this area. In particular, we hope that you can inspire and support other local schools in tackling homophobic bullying and celebrating difference, so that all young people can go to a school like Muschamp Primary."

We held our annual Diversity Week to celebrate our ongoing work which was recognised by the Sutton Guardian!

Here is a video of some of our children at Muschamp talking about diversity.

We celebrate diversity in our school in lots of different ways. For instance, we have had Fulham Ladies Football Club come and work with our girls' football team and we have had the London Gay Men's Choir come in to work with us to teach us songs about respect. Other examples of our diversity work include having a female firefighter visit us in order to challenge gender stereotypes, Zelna Lauwrens- a World-Class Kids life coach- who came in to help us boost our self esteem and we have had mufti days to celebrate being ourselves. We have also had Diverse Voices do drama workshops, Spud and Yam sing along sessions, a whole school art project titled "#BeYourselfie" and lots more! Look through the pictures to see some of our diversity work!
