Brasilia (Year 2)

Welcome to the Brasilia Class page.

Brasilia class is one of our three Year 2 classes.

Class Teacher: Miss Doncaster

Teaching Assistant: Mrs Sear and Mrs Smith

This Half Term:

Our topic is Land Ahoy! We have been learning about Christopher Colombus and his adventures.

In English we are looking at fiction and non-fiction books based on the seaside. This links with our stories on The Snail and the Whale and The Lighthouse Keeper's Lunch.

In maths we are exploring number, partitioning into ones and tens.

Our PE lessons are on a Wednesday and Thursday afternoons.

In PE we are learning about movement and how to use our bodies to make different movements. We will practising a variety of skills.

PLEASE NOTE:  SOME OF THESE LESSONS ARE OUTSIDE!

The children in Brasilia Class are constantly being reminded; they must do their reading and spellings every night and do at least one piece of home learning each week. We remind the children that home learning activities are things they should be able to do by themselves, and even if they only read a couple of pages a night it is still worth it! The children also have a 6 week project to complete if they wish.We have had lots of chats about exercising our brains outside of school, and doing some learning activities at home are really good for helping this!

Important things to remember:

  • PE  Kits-We usually have PE on a Wednesday and Thursday. Make sure you have the proper school PE kit.  It is important that you make sure you have warmer kit during the colder months.
  • Homework is normally set on a Friday and due in on the following Wednesday. This is to allow you time on Monday or Tuesday to come and speak to teachers if there is something which you are unsure of or need help with.

  • Spellings are set on a Friday, to be tested the following Friday. Please remember your spelling book to complete the test in and also for the new spellings to be stuck in.
