Brasilia (Year 2)

Welcome to the Brasilia Class page.

Brasilia class is one of our three Year 2 classes.

Class Teacher: Miss Doncaster

Teaching Assistant: Mrs Sear and Mrs Smith

This Half Term:

Our topic will be Animal Planet. In Science we will be looking at animals and their habitats. This supports us in Geography when we learn about the 7 different continents. We are really lucky as we get to go to The South London Botanical Institute to learn about animals and make food chains. It is a really exciting day out!

In History we learn about Gerald Durrell and the impact he has had on animal conservation.

This term in Art and DT we get to be hands on and make a print and finger puppet! We look forward to bringing them home to show you.

Our PE lessons are on a Wednesday (led by Crystal Palace Coaches) and Thursday afternoons.

In PE we are doing Gymnastics and Dance

PLEASE NOTE:  SOME OF THESE LESSONS ARE OUTSIDE!

The children in Brasilia Class are constantly being reminded; they must do their reading and spellings every night and do at least one piece of home learning each week. We remind the children that home learning activities are things they should be able to do by themselves, and even if they only read a couple of pages a night it is still worth it! The children also have a 6 week project to complete if they wish.We have had lots of chats about exercising our brains outside of school, and doing some learning activities at home are really good for helping this!

Important things to remember:

  • PE  Kits-We usually have PE on a Wednesday and Thursday. Make sure you have the proper school PE kit.  It is important that you make sure you have warmer kit during the colder months.
  • Please ensure your child is reading every night and their diary is signed.

  • Spellings are set on a Friday, to be tested the following Friday. Please remember your spelling book to complete the test in and also for the new spellings to be stuck in.
