Summer term is here! We are looking forward to a fun packed term. This month we will be continuing to work towards our next reading celebration in May.
Reception have started learning about minibeasts this half term and Nursery are learning about dinosaurs!
It is very cold and we are looking forward to Spring! This month Reception are going for a local walk to Londis to get ingredients to make chocolate cake! We are hoping the children will feel inspired to write ingredients and recipes. This month we will be celebrating Chinese New Year. Nursery will be inviting parents and carers in to join them in making special crafts for this occasion.
On Monday 26th February we will be having our second reading celebration. Reception children who have read 30 times or more and have completed the two set pieces of work will receive a special ticket to the 'Fairytales and Fantasy' party.
Happy new year and welcome back to school! We are ready for an exciting start to the Spring term. Please make sure your child has their reading book in school everyday. Details of the Spring term reading celebration will come out soon.
December is here! We have lots planned for this month in Nursery and Reception.
Nursery and Reception have written their letters to Father Christmas and we are in the process of walking to the postbox to post them. We love taking opportunities to get out in the local community.
Reception are practising for their Christmas show 'Shine star shine' and Nursery are practising for their Christmas sing a long.
We have 'Come and create for Christmas' sessions planned in Nursery and Reception where we invite families to join us to make Christmas crafts.
Lastly we are repeating a tradition we started last year to take the Reception children on the bus to Sutton to go shopping for our 'Secret Santa' gifts to exchange with each other.
We are looking forward to a busy November and the run up to Christmas! Things coming up this month include the Little Learners course run by Sutton College starting Monday 6th November for 4 weeks. There is also a phonics workshop run by Miss Platt on Wednesday 15th November. Miss Platt will give you an introduction to phonics and will try to answer any questions you have.
November also sees our first visit of the year to the ecology centre in Carshalton. We visit the ecology centre to complement the work we do at school with 'forest experiences'. Letters will be going out soon for this.
We have been really pleased with how many families have signed up for class dojo. This is really helping us to communicate with you all. We hope you are enjoying it too.
October is here! Reception children are now fully involved in school life and have started their regular phonics, writing and maths times. This is in addition to all the wonderful learning they do inside and outside with their friends.
Reception children are bringing reading books home from the first week of October.
We are introducing 'Class Dojo' this month. We are hoping all our Nursery and Reception families will log on and get involved with finding out what is happening in their child's class every week.
We are planning a 'Come and plant' day for the last week of term to get some bulbs planted in our 'forest' area.
We are all very excited to be at school! At the moment the Nursery staff are busy visiting new Nursery children at their homes. Reception children are staying for mornings this week (until the 8th) and then staying for lunch next week (11th-15th) and being collected at 130.
Events this month are as follows
