The Resources Committee’s overall objective is to enhance the quality of education available to the children at the school including conditions for the staff by:

 

1  Receiving and considering income and mandatory expenditure placed before it by the Bursar and making recommendations for cost effectiveness in the short and long term.

 

2  Receiving details of all monies which the Governing Body has freedom to spend on progressing the school.

 

3  Considering expenditure proposals from other committees.

 

Receiving details of the Annual Budget and after approval proposing these to the Governing Body.

 

5  Monitoring budgetary expenditure, ensuring funds are spent appropriately and taking action to avoid over-spending.

 

6  Considering other matters as may come before the Committee and making recommendations for approval by the Governing Body.

 

7  Reviewing the School Fund Account and Annual Account before their submission to the Governing Body and other appropriate third parties.

 

8  Ensuring compliance with all legislation and government requirements regarding financial procedures in schools.

 

9  Reviewing the school’s financial procedures annually and ensuring they are adhered to by all staff with financial management responsibility and that financial duties of staff are clearly described to avoid  potential conflicts.

 

10  Monitoring the needs of the school premises (buildings and grounds) with regard to security, repairs and maintenance, replacements and improvements.

 

11  Ensuring that all ancillary equipment complies with health and safety statutory requirements.

 

12  Considering priorities for refurbishment and improvements, obtaining and approving estimates and progressing the various works within thebudget allocations for these.

 

13 Ensuring school staff are liaising with the appropriate LA department on existing projects.

 

14  Ensuring actions taken as a result of risk assessments are appropriate.

 

15  Ensuring effective health and safety management by liaising with staff, the LA, Governing Body and other appropriate bodies and monitoring the school Health and Safety Policy.

 

16  Receiving reports from the Headteacher on matters associated withthese terms of reference (accidents, security infringements, crimes, etc) and reviewing procedures and policy as appropriate.

 

17  Considering, in conjunction with the Headteacher, and recommending staff training needs as appropriate, to enable the requirements of the school Health and Safety Policy to be met.

 

18  Considering other matters as may come before the Committee and making recommendations for approval by the Governing Body.

 

19  Reporting termly to the Governing Body on the matters within these terms of reference.

 

20  Reviewing and reporting to the Governing Body on school policies

 

The Curriculum, Standards and Attainment committee’s overall objective is to enhance the quality of education available to the pupils and raise standards through the discharge of the areas of responsibility delegated to the Committee.

 

Monitoring the development and delivery of the school curriculum through reports by the Headteacher or Subject Co-ordinators in line with areas of focus within the School Improvement

 

Plan, discussion of documentation, liaison between co-ordinators and subject governors, and via ‘subject focus’ observation meetings twice a year.

 

Monitoring and reviewing the National Curriculum and policies which the Governing body has delegated to this Committee.

 

Monitoring the School’s progress and development (through the School Improvement Plan,the Ofsted Framework and review the School’s Self Evaluation on a regular basis, together with any recommendations arising from Ofsted Inspection reports.

 

To participate in the setting of statutory targets.

 

Monitoring standards and attainment through the consideration of information relating to statutory assessments and bench marking data, and review areas for improvement as appropriate.

 

Reporting termly to the Governing Body on matters enshrined in these terms of reference.
